We’re Singing in Rob Gardner’s Lamb of God

In a few weeks Carol and I will be part of the choir performing Rob Gardner’s Lamb of God here in Southern California. We have been practicing for two hours every Sunday evening for the last month. These have been wonderful sessions with beautiful and inspiring music. The only problem is I can’t get the songs out of my head.

Lamb of God is a sacred work for choir, orchestra, soloists and narrators written and composed by Rob Gardner. It recounts the events of the final days of the life of Jesus Christ through the eyes of those who loved Him and knew Him best: Peter, John, Thomas, Mary and Martha of Bethany, Mary Magdalene, and His mother Mary. Released 2010.

My Favorite Songs

IntroThou Hope and Deliverer – is both a prayer and an invitation. With the first part of the song directed at the Lord, the Israelites are eager to have their Redeemer come to save them and become a free people. This reverent invocation recognizes Christ as the source of hope, salvation, and ultimate deliverance.

MarthaMake me Whole – expresses a heartfelt plea for spiritual healing and redemption. The singer acknowledges personal brokenness and earnestly seeks divine intervention to be made complete.

PeterI Cannot Watch Them – This song recounts Peter’s thoughts after he had denied his knowledge of Christ three times. He laments as he has forsaken the Christ who would never forsake him. It expresses profound anguish and heartbreak as he witnesses Christ’s suffering during His trial and crucifixion.

FinaleHere is Hope – the grand finale, powerfully declaring the triumph of Christ’s Atonement and Resurrection. The song offers reassurance that through His sacrifice, sorrow and darkness are overcome, and hope is restored to all. It conveys a message of light, renewal, and the promise of eternal life, uplifting the listener with its profound testimony of Christ’s victory over death.
