The Temple
I
have a special place in my heart for the House of the
Lord. I was well prepared to go there by my
parents. Of all the things they did for me, helping me
to understand the power and the sacredness of
the temple is one that I know I will eternally
treasure.
Critics of the church
would have you believe that there is something mysterious or
perhaps degrading about the temple. As a regular member
with no agenda or axe to grind I try to share with you from
personal experience what it is really like there.
I hope you find this
information useful. If you'll notice at the bottom
of the essays I try to answer questions from everyone who
leaves comments, whether they are sincere or are filled with
hatred and anger. The Temple is a place of peace to
rest from the world.
Links to a few of my essays on
the subject of the Temple:
The Blessings of the LDS
Temple - A short commentary about how the
temple has blessed my life. It includes a link to a
video by the
church on the
same
subject.
Mormon
Temples and HBO's Big Love - A short personal introduction
to the church video "Why Mormons build Temples" in response to
the distortions of the TV show.
Death
is the Door to the Spirit World - Writen shortly after my
dad's death in which he kept asking for the door to be opened.
The Temple helps us to open that door.
Mormon
Temple Work for Holocaust Victims - Written in response to
a request from a good friend whose mother is a Holocaust
survivor with questions about temple work.
My
Experience With the Temple - I take you from my early days
doing Baptisms in the temple to my Endowment before my
mission, my temple marriage and ongoing
visits.
The
Endowment is more than the ordinances - I have long
wondered why we learn certain things in the temple never
expecting to use them except in the life to
come. |
