Book of Abraham
I love the Pearl of
Great Price. I love
to teach from it. The doctrines contained
in the Book of Abraham are unique to our faith and many are
unique to that book. No wonder the crtitics have been so
harsh in their attacks on both the book and it's
history.
It is in the Book of
Abraham that we learn some wonderful things about cosmology
that I believe were much more interesting to the early members
of the church. Our modern church seems to find it less
useful in light of our reliance on explanations of
science.
It is
from the Book of Abraham that we find reference to Kolob,
which we still sing about in one of my favorite hymns, "If
You Could Hie to Kolob." Someday, that facsimile No. 2
is going to proven to be correct in the way that
Joseph explained it.
Links to a few of my essays on the subject of
the Book of Abraham:
Objections to the Book of
Abraham - If
you really want to have some serious dialog with critics of
the Church, then write something in defense of the Book of
Abraham.
I
did.
Doctrines
of the Book of Abraham - I go off on a tangent after
commenting on Abraham 3:5 about "the planet of lesser
light." I am one of very few people who believe
this.
We
Know the Purpose of Life - More commentary on Abraham
chapter 3. This is one of the sweetest doctrines from
the Pearl of Great Price - the idea of our pre-earth
life.
